Christmas is indeed the most beautiful time of the year. Icy mornings, delicious cups of hot chocolate, building a snowman and much more! Children, in particular, enjoy Christmas and winter even more. Take part in these winter family activities with your children to make the Christmas season even more exciting for everyone!
Make a do-it-yourself Advent calendar
Nothing will make the children happier than a family project. Take the time to do some shopping (and buy some little surprises for each day), sit down in your living room and make your own Advent calendar. Not only will it appeal to the children’s creativity (and yours!), but you’ll also have the opportunity to have fun with the family every day until Christmas.
Make Christmas biscuits
Speaking of family projects, take the fun into the kitchen and fill the house with the sweet smell of biscuits. You can bake the biscuits ahead of time with a Christmas biscuit cutter and let the kids decorate them. Prepare different coloured icings, rainbow sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate syrup and other sweets!
Organize a movie night
Prepare the children’s favourite snack and popcorn and get the whole family ready for movie night. You can watch Christmas movies or any other enjoyable family movie together. Don’t forget the blankets – it’s nice to snuggle together in this weather!
Take a trip to a Christmas tree farm
The little ones will enjoy winter and the holidays even more if they can choose their own Christmas tree! Stroll around the farm, take pictures in the beautiful landscape and enjoy the cool breeze blowing outside. Once you’ve chosen a tree, you can go home and decorate it as a family!
Visit the ice rink
Don’t let winter go by without skating! Children tend to stay cooped up at home during the cold season, which is why the skating rink is a great way to bond with them. Tobogganing is also a fun idea: visit a nearby place where you can spend an afternoon tobogganing!
Holidays are the ideal time to give back. Volunteer as a family at a soup kitchen, helping to prepare meals for the homeless. You can also visit an orphanage together and donate your children’s old clothes, shoes and toys. It will be a fun learning experience for the little ones!
Your family doesn’t have to stay home because it’s too cold outside – enjoy the season with these fun winter activities for the whole family!
